Water is the main agent of degradation in insulation systems. Transition zones between materials, horizontal surfaces exposed to direct rain and protruding elements such as chimneys and platbands are the points where infiltration is most likely to occur. Without adequate waterproofing in these areas, degradation progresses inside the system without visible external signs until the damage is extensive.

Each area of the envelope has different exposure conditions: the joint between the frames and the façade requires deformability and permanent adhesion. The transition between façade and roof requires resistance to UV rays and thermal amplitudes. The base of a balcony requires total impermeability under permanent load. Selecting the right solution for each area avoids corrective interventions that are always more complex and more expensive.

Joint of at least 5 mm between the ETICS system and the boundary element. Self-adhesive butyl tape applied to the base layer before finishing. Final sealing with a bead of elastic mastic after the coating has completely dried.

The sealing of joints with boundary elements (frames, platbands, purlins) is carried out after the final finish of the system has completely dried. The mastic must be elastic and compatible with the material of the insulating board.
The self-adhesive butyl band adheres to the surface by pressure and maintains watertightness with permanent deformability. The pre-compressed sealant band expands after application, filling the joint by internal pressure. Selection depends on joint geometry and access conditions.
The grammage determines the mechanical resistance: 115 g/m² for everyday situations, 150 g/m² for greater resistance, 170 g/m² for more demanding conditions. The vapour control membrane is applied from the inside and manages the moisture that passes through the roof from the inside out.
3D flashing strips are suitable for complex geometries such as chimneys and protruding elements, where a flat strip won't fit without cuts and overlaps. For linear joints and flat transitions, self-adhesive butyl strips are the right solution.
