The ETICS system, known in Portugal as capoto, insulates the façade from the outside with a sequence of layers: insulation, mechanical fixing, a base layer reinforced with fibreglass mesh and finishing. Application from the outside eliminates thermal bridges and guarantees insulation continuity throughout the entire envelope.
It is precisely this continuity that makes the selection of complementary components crucial. Profiles, fixings and reinforcements work at the points where continuity is most difficult to guarantee, and where most pathologies originate.
Continuous insulation from the outside reduces heat loss through the envelope. Savings on air conditioning are between 30% and 40%, with a return on investment of typically less than 10 years.
Thermal bridges, such as discontinuities in pillars, beams and shutter boxes, are responsible for significant losses and the appearance of condensation. ETICS eliminates this problem by wrapping the entire façade in a seamless insulating layer.
